Source Photo : Greg Jackson via John Hudson.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Une triple motorisation pour plus de puissance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019ajout de trois moteurs a \u00e9t\u00e9 motiv\u00e9 par un objectif pr\u00e9cis : permettre au planeur de d\u00e9coller de mani\u00e8re autonome tout en garantissant un bon taux de mont\u00e9e. Allen Hudson a consacr\u00e9 trois ans \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9laboration de cette modification, aboutissant en 2006. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, les moteurs AMT Olympus offraient une pouss\u00e9e satisfaisante, mais l\u2019apparition de l\u2019AMT Titan trois ans plus tard, avec ses 40 kgp, aurait sans doute influenc\u00e9 ses choix techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Configuration des moteurs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>L&#8217;un des moteurs est fix\u00e9 sur le dos du fuselage, de fa\u00e7on non r\u00e9tractable, et prot\u00e9g\u00e9 par une nacelle en aluminium. Cette derni\u00e8re est dot\u00e9e de deux entr\u00e9es d&#8217;air ajustables, qui se ferment une fois le moteur \u00e9teint, r\u00e9duisant ainsi la tra\u00een\u00e9e. Les deux autres moteurs sont install\u00e9s de chaque c\u00f4t\u00e9 du moteur sup\u00e9rieur. Chacun est mont\u00e9 sur une trappe basculante permettant de les r\u00e9tracter dans le fuselage pour une meilleure a\u00e9rodynamique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si les trois moteurs peuvent \u00eatre arr\u00eat\u00e9s en vol, seul celui install\u00e9 sur le dos du planeur est capable d&#8217;\u00eatre red\u00e9marr\u00e9 une fois en l\u2019air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Le premier vol et les performances en mont\u00e9e<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Le vol inaugural de l\u2019ASW 20 Trijet a eu lieu le 14 juin 2009 \u00e0 Waikerie, avec Allen Hudson aux commandes. Lors de ce premier essai, les conditions \u00e9taient turbulentes, mais l\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration a permis \u00e0 Hudson de prendre rapidement le contr\u00f4le aux ailerons. Apr\u00e8s une mont\u00e9e \u00e0 80 n\u0153uds, il a coup\u00e9 les deux moteurs lat\u00e9raux \u00e0 1000 pieds d\u2019altitude et les a r\u00e9tract\u00e9s. Le planeur, maintenant propuls\u00e9 uniquement par le moteur dorsal, a ensuite r\u00e9alis\u00e9 un passage \u00e0 basse altitude \u00e0 une vitesse mod\u00e9r\u00e9e en raison des turbulences, avant de se poser sur la piste 02.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Une exp\u00e9rience de vol plaisante<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>John Hudson, fils d\u2019Allen Hudson, a eu l&#8217;occasion de piloter l&#8217;ASW 20 Trijet \u00e0 de multiples reprises. Pour lui, la capacit\u00e9 de d\u00e9coller de mani\u00e8re autonome offre une grande libert\u00e9 et un plaisir unique. Il indique qu\u2019une mont\u00e9e \u00e0 5000 pieds peut \u00eatre r\u00e9alis\u00e9e en cinq minutes seulement, avec une consommation de k\u00e9ros\u00e8ne d\u2019environ un litre par minute et par moteur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019ASW 20 Trijet illustre parfaitement l&#8217;innovation dans le domaine des planeurs motoris\u00e9s, offrant un compromis int\u00e9ressant entre performance, autonomie et efficacit\u00e9.
