L&#8217;envergure YF-80 est de 5,63 m (18,5 pieds), l&#8217;autonomie sans l&#8217;utilisation des r\u00e9servoirs ext\u00e9rieurs devait \u00eatre de l&#8217;ordre de 790 km. La principale curiosit\u00e9 de cet avion, r\u00e9side dans son mode de propulsion. Il s&#8217;agit bien d&#8217;un jet, au sens o\u00f9 on l&#8217;entend si lorsque l&#8217;on consid\u00e8re que sa force de propulsion est un jet d&#8217;air. Par contre il ne s&#8217;agit pas d&#8217;un jet d&#8217;air chaud r\u00e9sultant de la combustion d&#8217;un carburant, mais d&#8217;un jet d&#8217;air froid (cold-jet) comprim\u00e9 par un compresseur, lui-m\u00eame entra\u00een\u00e9e par un moteur V8 d&#8217;origine automobile.
