Le\u00a0premier fut l&#8217;appareil immatricul\u00e9\u00a0<strong>OK-1840<\/strong>\u00a0(cn 172016). Il \u00e9tait\u00a0\u00e9quip\u00e9 d&#8217;un TJ100C. Le\u00a0second\u00a0<strong>OK-3801<\/strong>\u00a0(cn 172602) \u00e9tait \u00e9quip\u00e9 d&#8217;un TJ100A. Blanik a \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7u par l&#8217;ing\u00e9nieur&nbsp;<strong>Karel Dlouhy<\/strong>&nbsp;du&nbsp;VZLU&nbsp;(Institut de recherche a\u00e9rospatial) de Letnany en<strong>&nbsp;1956<\/strong>. Le nouveau design utilisait&nbsp;l&#8217;exp\u00e9rience et les id\u00e9es acquises avec le Letov XLF-207, le premier planeur tch\u00e8que \u00e9quipp\u00e9 d&#8217;un profil d&#8217;aile&nbsp;laminaire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le L-13 biplace \u00e9tait destin\u00e9 \u00e0 la formation initiale et professionnelle. Il est entr\u00e9 en production en 1958 et est rapidement devenu tr\u00e8s populaire non seulement parmi les pays du bloc&nbsp;sovi\u00e9tiques, mais aussi parmi les pays d&#8217;Europe occidentale et l&#8217;Am\u00e9rique du Nord. Le secret de la popularit\u00e9 du&nbsp;Blanik r\u00e9side&nbsp;dans sa conception&nbsp;tout en m\u00e9tal, simple et bon march\u00e9, sa fiabilit\u00e9 et ses excellentes performances. La version L13 a \u00e9t\u00e9 produite \u00e0 2650 exemplaires&nbsp;,et on compte plus de&nbsp;3 000&nbsp; exemplaires dans les autres versions (L-23 Super Blanik, etc.). M\u00eame un demi-si\u00e8cle apr\u00e8s son premier vol, le Blanik est toujours le planeur&nbsp;le plus r\u00e9pandu au monde.
