Elle&nbsp;\u00e9tait suffisamment avanc\u00e9e pour disposer d&#8217;une maquette&nbsp;d\u00e9but de 1982. La conception et la construction du prototype&nbsp;a \u00e9t\u00e9 confi\u00e9e \u00e0&nbsp;<strong>DesignAbility Ltd<\/strong>&nbsp;\u00e0 Dilton Marsh, dans le Wiltshire. Source : Flight 1982<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Premier Vol<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Le prototype a pris son envol pour la premi\u00e8re fois en d\u00e9cembre 1988 \u00e0 <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/RAE_Bedford\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/RAE_Bedford\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RAE Bedford<\/a>, avec le pilote d&#8217;essai de Cranfield, <a href=\"http:\/\/thetartanterror.blogspot.com\/2008\/05\/sldr-angus-mckinnon-mcvitie-fraes-19xx.html\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/thetartanterror.blogspot.com\/2008\/05\/sldr-angus-mckinnon-mcvitie-fraes-19xx.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Angus McVitie<\/a>, aux commandes.<br>CMC a limit\u00e9 l&#8217;appareil \u00e0 une vitesse de 130 n\u0153uds et une altitude maximale de 3 500 pieds.<br>Le Leopard a \u00e9t\u00e9 test\u00e9 \u00e0 des vitesses aussi basses que 75 n\u0153uds avec un braquage des volets allant jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 41\u00b0. Profil d&#8217;aile con\u00e7u par ARA avec des sections 3D combinant flux laminaire et technologie d&#8217;aile supercritique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rapport \u00e9paisseur\/corde de 14 % \u00e0 l&#8217;emplanture et de 11 % au saumon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fl\u00e8che au quart de la corde de 25\u00b0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Structure \u00e0 deux longerons, principalement en GFRP (plastique renforc\u00e9 de fibre de verre), avec certains renforts en fibre de carbone. Volets de bord de fuite en fibre de carbone sur toute l&#8217;envergure, actionn\u00e9s \u00e9lectriquement, avec des d\u00e9flexions de +\/- 45\u00b0 pour un freinage a\u00e9rodynamique et un d\u00e9ploiement des volets lors de l&#8217;atterrissage. Aucun aileron ni a\u00e9rofrein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La version de s\u00e9rie devait \u00eatre \u00e9quip\u00e9e d&#8217;un syst\u00e8me de d\u00e9givrage et de d\u00e9contamination liquide au bord d\u2019attaque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fuselage<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Construit en trois sections :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Section avant non pressuris\u00e9e<\/strong> abritant l&#8217;avionique et le train avant lorsqu\u2019il est rentr\u00e9.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Section centrale pressuris\u00e9e<\/strong> (uniquement pour la version de s\u00e9rie) servant de cabine.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Section arri\u00e8re non pressuris\u00e9e<\/strong> comprenant une soute \u00e0 bagages, avec des r\u00e9servoirs de carburant en dessous et des compartiments pour l\u2019\u00e9quipement \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Structure monocoque de base, principalement en GFRP avec des renforts en fibre de carbone ; cloisons avant et arri\u00e8re de la cabine, moteurs et cadres d\u2019essieu de l\u2019empennage moul\u00e9s en une seule pi\u00e8ce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La section de cabine pressuris\u00e9e est divis\u00e9e approximativement le long du plan horizontal de l\u2019appareil. La partie sup\u00e9rieure est form\u00e9e par une verri\u00e8re s\u2019ouvrant vers le haut, actionn\u00e9e \u00e9lectriquement et articul\u00e9e au bord d&#8217;attaque du pare-brise. Plusieurs loquets situ\u00e9s autour du bord inf\u00e9rieur de la verri\u00e8re assurent sa fermeture. Les fen\u00eatres lat\u00e9rales en acrylique, fix\u00e9es par collage, supportent la pression de la cabine. Bien que le jet f\u00fbt performant, la production a \u00e9t\u00e9 interrompue apr\u00e8s le deuxi\u00e8me prototype.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le d\u00e9c\u00e8s du concepteur en chef, <strong>Ian Chichester-Miles<\/strong>, en <strong>2009<\/strong> a mis fin aux d\u00e9veloppements futurs du Leopard.
