Il devait \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 par la suite sur les missiles guid\u00e9s que la compagnie \u00e9tait entrain de d\u00e9velopper.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En&nbsp;<strong>juin 1947<\/strong>, Fairchlid, s&#8217;est vue attribu\u00e9e par l&#8217;US Navy un contrat pour un r\u00e9acteur de faible puissance, destin\u00e9 \u00e0 &nbsp;\u00e9quip\u00e9 un missile anti-sous-marin. Ce moteur, d\u00e9sign\u00e9&nbsp;<strong>J44<\/strong>, a \u00e9t\u00e9 le premier r\u00e9acteur am\u00e9ricain &#8220;consommable&#8221;, pour lequel une dur\u00e9e de vie d&#8217;au plus 10 heures \u00e9tait requise.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pr\u00e9sentation du Fairchild J44<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Le compresseur<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>C&#8217;\u00e9tait un compresseur \u00e0 &nbsp;flux mixte, axiaux et centrifuges et \u00e0 &nbsp;aubes courbes. A simple, stock stainless steel tube, with a welded flange at each end, formed the rotor connecting the turbine to the compressor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The was a bearing before the compressor and aft of the turbine and a fixed-area exhaust nozzle was used.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;<strong>August 1948<\/strong>&nbsp;the XJ44 made its first run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>first flight<\/strong>&nbsp;was made in&nbsp;<strong>mid 1950<\/strong>&nbsp;when it powered Fairchild&#8217;s Petrel Missile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As service trial proceeded, so problems with J44 where thrown up, most of them attribuable to over-simplified production.
