AMT AT-450

General context
The AMT AT-450 was marketed by AMT USA (later Aviation Microjet Technology), a U.S.-based company in Ohio specializing in the design and manufacture of small turbojet engines.
Application areas of the AMT AT-450
AMT USA primarily focused on turbines intended for a variety of applications such as:
- Propulsion of radio-controlled (RC) models,
- Scientific research,
- Academic projects,
- Military applications,
Use in Minijets
While many applications of their turbines in RC models are known, the only confirmed use of the AT-450 in a minijet remains that of the Silent J, a Silent Club motor glider by Alisport, modified by Bob Carlton in a twin-engine configuration.
He used an aircraft specifically built and modified for this purpose, with reinforced spars, and certified in the U.S. experimental category.
To enable basic aerobatic maneuvers and compensate for the limited thrust of each engine (20 to 22 kgf), the use of two engines proved necessary. They were installed behind the cockpit, above the fuselage, on the pylon normally used for retracting the piston engine.
Cessation of operations
AMT USA has not been in operation since 2008/2009.
Application
